Restoration of the Garden at Gaiety Hollow
The garden is currently being managed by volunteers and work is underway to restore it to its period of significance.
The L&S Conservancy has commissioned art historian Dr. Carmen Lord to research and write a comprehensive book on the Lord and Schryver legacy. As a grand-niece of Elizabeth Lord, Dr. Lord will bring to this scholarly work her personal stories of growing up amidst Lord and Schryver. A prospectus has been approved. Watch a video of Carmen Lord discussing her vision of the book.
Cultural Landscape Report
The L&S Conservancy commissioned a two volume Cultural Landscape Report by MIG in Portland in 2009 detailing the history of the Gaeity Hollow site and identifying those extant elements which contributed to the Period of Significance. This comprehensive report serves as the authoritative document to guide the Conservancy in its work to rehabilitate the Gaiety Hollow gardens.
Rehabilitation Report, Historic Deepwood Estate
The Rehabilitation Report is a 100+ page addendum to the Historic Landscape Report outlining the Conservancy's decade-long project to rehabilitate the historic gardens at Deepwood.
The L&S Conservancy has collaborated on a number of exhibits including one at the Hallie Ford Museum of Art in 2011 and at Bush Barn, Salem Art Association and the Willamette Heritage Center.
We have developed an extensive archive to supplement that of the professional papers of Lord and Schyrver, housed in the Special Collections at the Knight Library of the University of Oregon. Our archive includes many oral histories, over 1,500 historic images which have been digitized and catalogued into a database, garden identifications and copies of publications on their legacy. The Lord and Schryer Conservancy's archive is located at Gaiety Hollow.
Divas of Design
The L&S Conservancy hosted a day-long symposium at Willamette University in 2009 that featured national speakers with over 80 attendees.
In the fall of 2013 we participated in the PACE program of the Atkinson Graduate School of Management, working with a team of students to develop a marketing and membership program.
